Energy Catalyzer : ウィキペディア英語版 | Energy Catalyzer The Energy Catalyzer (also called E-Cat) is a purported cold fusion device〔Patent application .〕〔 which was devised by inventor Andrea Rossi with support from physicist Sergio Focardi.〔〕 An Italian patent, which received a formal but not a technical examination, describes the apparatus as a "process and equipment to obtain exothermal reactions, in particular from nickel and hydrogen".〔.〕 Rossi and Focardi said the device worked by infusing heated hydrogen into nickel powder, transmuting it into copper and producing excess heat. The international patent application〔 received an unfavorable international preliminary report on patentability because it was adjudged to "offend against the generally accepted laws of physics and established theories". In 2015 the US Patent Office granted Rossi a patent for an "apparatus for heating fluid". The device has been the subject of several demonstrations and tests by Rossi, and commented on by various academics and others, but no independent tests have been made, and no peer-reviewed tests have been published. ==Funding== Tom Darden, CEO of Cherokee Investment Partners and others have invested more than $10 million in cold fusion, including in Rossi's Ecat, and his company Industrial Heat LLC bought the rights to the E-cat technology from Rossi in January of 2014.〔https://web.archive.org/web/20140128085542/http://www.popsci.com/article/science/dubious-cold-fusion-machine-acquired-north-carolina-company?〕
